Before You Get Your Picture Taken
WHAT DO I WEAR??
Wear clothes that you are comfortable being in, ones that you want to be a part of your memory, depending on the type of
pictures you want. If you are doing a:
Graduation photo shoot, some ideas are: your cap and gown, formal attire, a nice suit/or dress, something that shows who you are.
Family photo shoot, all members wearing matching outfits, or same shoes (converse etc.), a color theme, or seasonal theme.
Pregnancy/Newborn/Infant photo shoot, be prepared to be asked if you want the baby nude, as well as your beautiful pregnant belly (wraps will be offered to cover essential areas), for infants stray away from overalls and too big onsies, they tend to give the illusion that babies don’t have a neck.
ALL PHOTO SHOOTS: Try to stay away from busy patterns, such as checkers, or paisley it can sometimes clash with backgrounds or black and white imagery. Also try not to being more than 2-3 outfit changes (remember you only have an hour and a half with the photographer and you want as many pictures taken as possible for more choices).
I DON’T KNOW HOW TO POSE!!
Don’t worry the photographer doesn’t expect you to be a professional, the photographer can pose you and bring out the best in you. You don’t have to smile or say cheese; remember these are your pictures.
If you have ideas of how you want to pose you, or your family let the photographer know and he/she will work with you to get the best shot possible.
PETS
We love photographing pets, as well as their owners. As you may very well know, animals are unpredictable, we try to schedule longer photo shoots for them so that we can get the best, most focused shots. Bring their favorite toy, or treats this helps your animal feel like this isn’t a horrible traumatic experience, we want them to enjoy themselves as well!
